I do wish it had more rejected designs, because I always find those interesting, often more so than the ones that make it into the final movie.

If you liked the movie, you’ll enjoy this book as it gives insight to the evolution of the machins from monstters to screen. It’s full of tons of great concept art, and packed with lots of little details. And these are not just outer shells; the inner mechanics of the Jaegers had to pacific rim man machines and monsters designed as well, giving that we see inside them at various points in the movie. This had really cool pictures and descriptions of how the film was made, the costumes, the special effects, the sets, everything.
It was great to see the commitment the entire crew had.
It goes into a deeper look at the backstories of the main characters and the mechs or jaegers first of all before moving into a brief overview of the technical aspects involved with creating the scenes featuring these jaegers. Those who are interested in the art of filmmaking will no doubt want to read this book – it is a master class in fantasy design. I would like to have seen more sketches and pacific rim man machines and monsters concept art but still, this highlights a very diverse range mzchines work. An entertaining if brief look at the the making of the fantastic film, Pacific Rim. I love the movie and the movie novelization, but this book is so interesting, with all the pictures and information about del Toro put the movie together. There are only 5.

Alexia Actually, other than the premise of big robots fighting big monsters, it’s quite different from Evangelion, well at least in terms of art direction. The bulk of the art, more than half the book, is on the Jaegers and Kaijus.

While pacific rim man machines and monsters, I was worried that the addition would catch on something and bend. It may seem like a simple movie about big things fighting other big things although, it’s equally fine to see enjoy it as such, but it’s a world absolutely worth immersing yourself in, just don’t make any plans for the next Lists with This Book.
